Karazhan - Moroes
Strategy
There are a few different strategies possible for this fight, as for most boss fights, but we have been able to down him with a quite simple strategy:
- Down the adds with DPS in absurdum.
- Down Moroes with what DPS is left.
The tactics used to kill off the adds are using all CD abilities immediately to kill the adds - this way they don't require tanking. Cloth-DPS should be a bit careful in aggro list though as they can be 1-2-shot by melee adds. During the fight the adds that is not being killed should be shackled and trapped - it is possible and recommended that the MT and OT tanks one of the melee adds next to Moroes - preferred the last melee one in the kill order.
Adds:
Moroes has four different random dinner guests (adds) from the following list in every instance. Each add is based off a class and spec. The following table lists them in a good kill order:
1. Baroness Dorothea Millstipe (Shadow Priest)
HP: 66.000
Skills: Mana Burn, Mind Flay, Shadow Word: Pain
2. Lady Catriona Von'Indi (Holy Priest)
HP: 66.000
Skills: Greater Heal, Power Word: Shield, Dispel Magic, Holy Fire
3. Lady Keira Berrybuck (Holy Paladin)
HP: 68.000
Skills: Holy Light, Cleanse, Divine Shield, Blessing of Might
4. Baron Rafe Dreuger (Retribution Paladin)
HP: 68.000
Skills: Hammer of Justice, Cleanse
5. Lord Robin Daris (Arms Warrior)
HP: 84.000
Skills: Mortal Strike, Whirlwind
6. Lord Crispin Ference (Protection Warrior)
HP: 84.000
Skills: Disarm, Shield Bash, Shield Wall
Garrote
Moroes vanishes every 30 seconds, and upon return randomly Garrotes a raid member. Garrote is a bleed effect and deals 1,000 damage every three seconds for 300 seconds (5 minutes, for a total of 100,000 damage). After he garrotes, Moroes immediately returns to the highest threat target. Garrote can be removed by the following abilities only:
- Dwarves' Stoneform
- Paladins' Divine Shield and Blessing of Protection
- Mages' Ice Block
- Items which remove bleeding effects (Luffa no longer works)
- Death (hopefully followed by a combat resurrection)
- It seems that hunters can avoid Garrote by Feign Death during Vanish
Since the possibilities to remove Garrote are limited, there is no choice but to heal through it on most raid members. One active HoT from a well-equipped healer should be enough. Group heals work well when multiple targets are garroted.
